Melly is an excellent example of what you’d want in a celebrant. There was an instant feeling of connection to what we wanted to express at our ceremony and I couldn’t picture anyone else delivering it after we had discussed this.
That first chat can tell us quite a lot. Not everything, obviously. I don’t claim to have people entirely figured out after one video call, that would be both impressive and slightly alarming. But sometimes there is an immediate sense that we’re on the same page.
With Lou and Pete, I could hear what mattered to them and, perhaps just as importantly, what didn’t.
This was particularly important for us as we are a more alternative couple and did not want a white wedding with beige words.
Oh, I absolutely loved this. Because “a white wedding with beige words” is such a perfect way of describing something I think a lot of couples are trying to avoid. Your ceremony doesn’t have to sound a particular way because somebody, somewhere, decided that’s what a wedding ceremony should sound like. It can be vibrant. Funny. Emotional. A bit unconventional. It can be colourful, dramatic, quiet, playful or gloriously hard to categorise.
The words should fit the people standing there.
Melly took the time to get to know us, helped guide us with any questions we had and created the most perfect script to sum up our romance to share with our nearest and dearest.
And this is why getting to know you matters. The ceremony isn’t built from a list of standard ingredients with your names sprinkled over the top. It’s built from your stories, your answers, the things that matter to you, the way you speak about one another and the particular flavour of life you’ve created together.
That last bit is where the good stuff usually lives.
All in all a high quality, vibrant, and fun ceremony! Highly recommend and very well priced.
