Abbey House Hotel has grandeur, history and the Lake District fells on its doorstep, but what stayed with me most was something rather less tangible: its warmth. A place that feels special without ever asking you to be on your best behaviour.
Emily and Dan's wedding at Crowcombe Court was full of gentle moments of friendship, kindness and care. The sort of moments that happen quietly between the big ones, and somehow become the ones you remember.
The grandeur of Crowcombe Court is impossible to ignore. What surprised me wasn't the beauty of the house, but how quickly it stopped feeling intimidating and started feeling like somewhere everyone belonged.

The day before Jo and Steve’s wedding, during hailstones and sideways rain, we solemnly buried a very large raw sausage in the gardens of Abbey House Hotel in the hope it would bring sunshine. The sausage was named Harold. And somehow… it worked. What followed was a wedding full of laughter, drinks in the sunshine, affectionate mickey-taking and a ceremony that celebrated not perfection, but real life, family and nearly twenty years of loving each other exactly as they are.
Evie & Dan’s ceremony wasn’t something their guests simply watched — it was something they were part of. From shared vows to rings passed through every hand, this was a wedding rooted in community, connection, and the quiet power of everyday love.
